Candida spent a good part of the rest of the day grieving the loss of her favorite pet goose. Out of seemingly nowhere, she dried her eyes and mentioned that she was hungry. “Let’s go have a snack,” she suggested.
Encyclopedia could have said, “Yeah, I haven’t had anything all day except for a bite of that delicious, delicious goose you’re mourning,” but he didn’t. That’s unfortunate.
He did mention that he and Sally recently discovered how much they enjoy cooking. Candida suddenly got excited and suggested that they have an Italian dinner for Columbus Day.
Suddenly, this went from having a quick snack to making an involved theme dinner. So that’s what they did to mark the federal holiday/killing of a favorite pet; they made Italian food.
