Encyclopedia Brown Takes the Cake (1982) book cover.
This book has the odd distinction of having a half-number, as it was #15½ in the series. It was also the only Encyclopedia Brown book to have a co-author. Instead of having ten mysteries, this book had seven with an extra chapter in between each mystery.
Each of these chapters revolve around Encyclopedia preparing food for some sort of party. I’d have to say, it’s a pretty neat idea. Kids reading these books could help Encyclopedia solve mysteries while learning about how to cook.
Plus, we get a better scope of life in Idaville. It still sounds like a terrible place to live.
